Blue KC Makes Prescription Drug Changes – Effective March 1, 2012

Effective March 1, 2012, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) will update its Prescription Drug List for group members in Blue-Care, Preferred-Care and Preferred-Care Blue for the following drugs:

Brand Name Drugs moving from Tier 3 to Tier 2:

Victoza – Insulin Product
Tradjenta – Diabetes
Brand Name Drugs moving from Tier 2 to Tier 3:

Apidra – Diabetes
OsmoPrep – Bowel Preparation
Therapy areas requiring step therapy:

Nuvigil before Provigil – Stimulates
Fibrate Class – Cholesterol
Topical Acne – Acne
Topical Corticosteroids – Eczema, skin rash
Drugs requiring prior authorization:

Suboxone – Addiction
These changes do not affect Direct Pay or group members on the Express Scripts High Performance Formulary.
